High Desert Weather
From July through September, monsoon storms can cause sudden flash floods and close low roads. Santa Fe sits at about 7,000 feet, and winter snow there and in northern New Mexico can slow the truck.
Tip: Drop Your Car at the Port
TOTE and Matson sail port to port, so many Alaskans drop their car at the Anchorage terminal themselves. That is usually cheaper than paying for a pickup at home. Ask about it when you compare quotes.
Tip: Get a VIN Inspection in New Mexico
Cars brought in from another state need a VIN inspection before New Mexico will title them. Not every MVD field office does them and some need an appointment, so call ahead. If you live in Bernalillo County, which includes Albuquerque, you also need an emissions certificate.
